White Negroamaro Wine Review: Tony Blair’s Crispy Mullet

a bottle of white negroamaro wine for a white negroamaro wine review

What’s Tony Blair’s trip to the barbers got to do with a wine from Puglia? A white negroamaro wine review…

This week, I’ve bowed to overwhelming (possibly imaginary) demand and, with a warm bank holiday in store, bought a bottle of white to refresh and cleanse my soul.

🍇 Grape: Negroamaro (usually for reds)

🇮🇹 Origin: Puglia, Italy

💷 Price: £5.99

🛒 Supermarket: Lidl

Drinking it reminded me of the words I thought of when I was queuing up to buy it, glanced at the papers and saw Tony Blair with a mullet:

Fresh, crispy and dry with melony notes.

You’re drinking a white that should be a red but, just like Tony’s barbers, the winemakers have somehow made it more than palatable.

This is the kinda white made for sitting off with a full tub of anchovies in oil. Oh, and another full tub of crayfish tails. Also, a shed load of juicy tomatoes covered in chunks of mozzarella and fresh basil leaves. Just saying.

Have a boss weekend.
